Our Beliefs

God

There was, and is, and will ever be only One God.  However, this One God is in three Persons.  The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.

"You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.

Isaiah 43:10

The Father

The Father is God. We should hold Him in the highest regard and treat Him with the utmost respect.

Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’

John 20:17

Jesus

Jesus is God. He came to earth and lived a sinless life, died on a cross as a sacrifice for all people’s sin, and rose from the dead after three days. He ascended to Heaven and will return.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is God.  He is in the world to make us aware of our sin and our need for Jesus Christ.  Every believer has the Holy Spirit living in them.

Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God.”.

Acts 5:3-4

Salvation

Jesus is God. He came to earth and lived a sinless life, died on a cross as a sacrifice for all people’s sin, and rose from the dead after three days. He ascended to Heaven and will return.

Then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. He is “ ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

Acts 4:10-12

Baptism

Baptism is essential in our relationship with Jesus Christ. He said that if we love Him we will obey His commands and He commanded every believer to be baptized. It marks our commitment to regularly die to ourselves and rise to live for Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Matthew 28:19-20

Eternity

People were created to exist forever.  We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and redemption.

“Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out—those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.

John 5:28-29

The Bible

The Bible is the only completely reliable source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

Sin

All sin damages our relationship with God.

But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

Isaiah 59:2

Growth

God can change anyone and bring them into a growing relationship with Him.

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Matthew 9:13

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

2 Corinthians 5:17
